Virtual Examiner Oral Exam Practice Tool for UK MCA Orals

Do you want to listen to an examiner saying the questions, so you can practice listening and then answering?

The virtual examiner is an online oral exam practice tool that provides a mock exam format, with questions based on real UK MCA questions.

You can listen to the questions, before either recording yourself or speaking out loud – then checking your answer against the model answer.

This allows you to practice your listening and speaking skills ahead of your UK MCA orals.

It is priced at £5.99 for 50 mock exams, or 30 days, whichever comes first.

Can you use the Virtual Examiner to prepare for your Chief Mates Oral Exam?

The virtual examiner is designed for the Officer of the Watch level and contains OOW level questions, however, it could be used to practice your listening and answering skills and to refresh knowledge ahead of your Chief Mates Oral Exam.

It contains 300 questions including COLREGS, buoyage, cargo, law, emergencies, meteorology, passage planning and stability. 

The virtual examiner requires you to play a video of the examiner asking you a question, you can then either type your answer, speak out loud and record yourself (if you want). At the end of the exam you can then check all your answers.

One-to-One Mock Orals for UK MCA Orals Preparation

Part A and B combination Mock Orals

Want to have a face-to-face mock orals assessment? You can have a mock part A and B UK MCA orals with an experienced lecturer who can give you valuable feedback before the big day.

For £49 you will receive:

• 1 x part A assessment, to be completed before the zoom call.
• A 30 minutes orals assessment over Zoom as though it is the real assessment. Questions are drawn from a bank of real MCA questions. This orals will be conducted on Zoom at a mutually agreeable time.
• 15-20 minutes of feedback on where you can improve your performance of parts A and B of the assessment.
• A copy of the zoom recording for your records.

Part B MCA Mock Orals

We can offer 1-to-1 sessions, focusing on either a mock orals, or working on a specific area.

This costs:

• £29 for half an hour
• £49 for an hour.

How are mock orals conducted?

We can run mock orals however you would like them to be run! We usually suggest if you’re about to sit your orals in the near future, you do a full mock with feedback at the end. But if you’re needing a little more support, we can also do a question followed by feedback and discuss the answer together. Just let us know when booking or on the day.

I am nervous of speaking out loud and worried I don’t know enough, should I wait to book a mock oral?

We specialise in helping people deal with their nerves. Don’t worry if you don’t know an answer, or forget what you were saying halfway through, we won’t judge you and we are here to help. Getting used to speaking out loud sooner rather than later will really help your confidence.
